ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY 2011
We have been dedicated to the care of older adults in our community since the founding of our Association in 1866. From the very beginning we have reached out to address their needs in creative and innovative ways. Through our various programs and initiatives, our goal is always the same: to help our residents lead satisfying, meaningful lives. We meet these challenges each and every day with compassion, ingenuity, skill…and the help of our friends and donors like you.
James Lenox House, on 73rd Street near Madison Avenue, provides independent living for over one hundred seniors. We offer affordable housing with quality supportive services, which otherwise would be outside their means, to encourage good health and continued independence for our residents: onsite nursing and social work services, an art class, exercise and chair yoga classes, and discussion groups on topics such as poetry, literature and music. We have a Rent Subsidy Program to assist residents whose circumstances have changed and who need help in meeting their rent and utility expenses. There are also a number of indoor and outdoor musical and social events, and occasional day trips to surrounding places of interest.
For those who require a higher level of care, our affiliate organization, Carnegie East House, (carnegieeast.org) on Second Avenue near 95th Street, offers enriched housing for older adults who need assistance with the tasks of daily living. Its caring and dedicated staff is committed to helping older adults retain their independence in safe and comfortable surroundings so they can celebrate the experience of aging. Among the diversity of services we provide are three nutritious meals daily, nursing and wellness programs, specified hours of personal care service for each resident weekly, scheduling of doctor appointments in-house and rehabilitation treatments when needed, medicine management service, and extensive resident activities including performances by visiting musicians and entertainers, informational programs by museum and educational experts, a beautiful and well-stocked library, an exercise and rehab facility, and even a weekly “happy hour.”
Three hundred and sixty-five days a year, twenty-four hours a day, we offer the kind of care that brings families confidence and peace of mind, and our residents comfort and a loving atmosphere. Please join us in celebrating and supporting our rich history and promising future. Help us to maintain a high quality of life for our residents as we fulfill the inspired and ambitious legacy of our founders. We could not operate without your generosity.
